Hey,
The word/term "Americana" brings different images to one's mind. Me, I always thought of old dusty general stores in Littletown, U.S.A. Aluminum Coca-Cola signs, and Bazooka Joe .
Well, We in the community of Alt-Country and/or No Depression and/or Insurgent Country etc., etc. Have finally settled on a definitive (gulp) Category. Being that we gravely disliked the whole idea of categories. We had to settle on a term that was both familiar and interesting ( or so we hope).
AMERICANA: A musical form that derives itself from rural american music(s)Country, Folk, Blues, Gospel, Rockabilly, Bluegrass, Rock-n-Roll, and PUNK! Yes, all of the above combined in a melting pot of passion driven, raw and real, No synth, No BS music.

Note: This is purely my definition of this amazing underground revolution. Others may find less categorizable categories than this but, This is what I hear. Now, It's up to you...The listener.

Check out my music. Right here at dmusic.com and go to your "Local" CD store. Ask Mom and Pop to add an "Americana" section. Print this to explain if necessary.

For additional info: Go to www.nodepression.com or email me.
Thanks.

Latest news...
August 28th 2001. I am just about finished with my 2000-2001 Wishing Street "Solo Acoustic" Tour. 285 shows since March 2000.
A few more in September and October in The Midwest. I have enjoyed the midwest tours so much. Some of the finest people I have ever come to know. I have met there. My sincere thanks go out to the fans in Fort Wayne Indiana, and Columbus, Ohio for making the shows there so incredible.

I am about to start recording my 4th CD. It is tentatively set for release by April of next year. I will be premiering several songs on dmusic exclusively.
Well, I guess that's it for now. Write me and tell me what you are listening to and I'll return the favor.

Thanks. and Later, Ian Charles
